Akshardham Temple
Known as the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, it is a Hindu temple located on the banks of the Yamuna River. It stands as a symbol of modern Hindu culture and architecture. The temple was officially opened in 2005 in the presence of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Dr. Manmohan Singh, and L.K. Advani. Built according to Vastu Shastra and Pancharatra Shastra, the temple showcases traditional design principles. The complex features several exhibition halls, and the water show is particularly spectacular—you must experience it, as I highly recommend it. The temple is constructed from Rajasthani pink sandstone and Italian marble, intricately carved with depictions of flora, fauna, dancers, musicians, and deities. It boasts 234 elaborately carved pillars, nine domes, and over 20,000 murtis of swamis and devotees. This stunning structure is an excellent example of modern Hindu art, which is beautifully displayed on its walls.
