Jodhpur Travel Guide – The Blue City of Rajasthan

Jodhpur, nicknamed the Blue City of Rajasthan, is one of Rajasthan's most iconic tourist destinations. It is home to the mighty Mehrangarh Fort, the grand Umaid Bhawan Palace, vibrant Rajasthani markets, and a rich cultural heritage. Built in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur, Mehrangarh Fort stands tall over the city, offering breathtaking views of the famous blue houses that give the city its nickname. Every October, the city comes alive with the Rajasthan International Folk Festival (RIFF) at Mehrangarh Fort, featuring world-class folk music, cultural performances, and Rajasthani dance. The best time to visit Jodhpur is from October to February, when the weather is pleasant and ideal for exploring forts and palaces.
